KWL chart

The KWL Chart will help you to start thinking about what you Know about a topic, what you Want to know, and what you have Learned in the end. This note-taking device guides you through a three-step process to activate background knowledge, develop a purpose for learning, and summarize.

Assumption

Before you start reading, you can list some assumption questions about the reading content or you could restate the concerns that the author mentioned.  This critical reading comprehension skill is necessary to grasp concepts related to the main idea, the author's purpose, and the writer's tone.

Pre-test

The pretest is an advance or preliminary test, as of a new product.

The pre-test questions could help you to determine if you are sufficiently prepared to begin a new course of study. However, the pretest is usually a test taken for practice will not record the scores.
